Case Study – Diabetic Ulceration

Patient:

65-year male h/o diabetes with peripheral neuropathy (A1C 5.6%).

Wound Presentation:

Chronic wound under the plantar aspect of the 5th metatarsal head, right foot.

Study Methodology:

He was treated with D-Care (Diabetic Wound Gel). He applied it daily and covered the wound with gauze and Kerlix. A CAM walker was dispensed for off-loading and he was instructed minimize WB as much as possible (patient admitted to WB at times, with and without the boot). Wound debridement was performed every time we saw him in clinic.
