Dr. Charles Argoff

Dr. Argoff is Professor of Neurology at Albany Medical College, Vice Chair, Department of Neurology, Director of the Comprehensive Pain Center at Albany Medical Center, and Director of the Pain Management Fellowship in Albany, NY. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed an internship in the Department of Medicine and a residency in the Department of Neurology at the State University of New York in Stony Brook, New York, as well as a fellowship in developmental and metabolic neurology at the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Boardof Pain Medicine, Dr. Argoff has been an active member of several professional organizations. He served as Chair of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Pain
and Palliative Care Section and as a member of the AAN Quality Standards Subcommittee; Co-Founder and Chair of the American Pain Society (APS) Fundamentals of Pain Management Course Steering Committee and Chair of the 2011 APS Managing the Patient in Pain Skills Seminar; and New York State Liaison for the American Academy of Pain Medicine’s State Initiative Campaign. Additionally, Dr. Argoff is Secretary of the American Board of Pain Medicine Foundation’s board of directors.
Dr. Argoff has published numerous articles in the peer-reviewed literature. He had an active role in the development of the diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain guidelines published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings, and he has contributed to other published neuropathic pain treatment guidelines.
